Wagon versions of a popular sport sedan, best version of their country's favorite engine (rev-happy straight six vs. big ass torque V8), both with alright automatic transmissions sending power all the way the the back. Debate me.

Not all Magnums had the V8. I'd say most have a V6 -- same ones offered in the Sebring.

The smallest one was smaller than the one in the IS300, just terrible

The Spertkrass is passable as an enthusiast’s car and is assembled with loads of quality. The Magnum is a poorly assembled car from the dark days right before Chrysler’s bailout. It’s heavy and numb. It claims to be a burly badass muscle car (talking about the RT- ignore the V6), yet it has undefeatable traction control, a 2.83 open rear diff and torque management out the wazoo. In a straight line and when the computers feel like allowing it, the Magnum is a total hoot. The other 85% of the time it’s just infuriating to drive because nothing ever does what you want it to.
Source: I owned a 2005 RT for 2 years and put 40,000 miles on it in that time. I wanted one from the moment I saw the concept car. Biggest. Letdown. Ever.

Also, disagree. Top reason being that the IS was sold as a “compact executive/luxury wagon,” whereas the Magnum was a pre-bailout penalty box.
The Sportcross was supposed to compete with the E46 Touring; the Magnum competed with... the Malibu Maxx maybe?
The Sportcross is a wagon version of Lexus’ smallest sedan ; the Magnum is a wagon version of Dodge’s LARGEST sedan.
The Sportcross only had one engine option in the states; the Magnum had four.
There were no trim levels on the Sportcross, merely some with a few better options; the Magnum had many trim levels.
The Sportcross is all about comfort, tight steering, and handling; a loaded Magnum SRT8 is about power, a nd power only.

The traction control is fully defeatable if you have a failed abs control module and you replace it with a junkyard unit but don’t sync it to the computer. My Charger has been traction control free for 3 years now.
The Magnum Srt-8 was one of my dream cars in high school. Massive letdown.

I defeated it by wiring a toggle switch into the power circuit to the accelerometer under the center console. It would finally do smokey doughnuts rather than deny any fun after 15 MPH wheel speed.

That’s a base model Magnum. The SXT, RT and SRT were better. Barely. The interior was extremely underwhelming in my car. It was functional and comfortable, though.

You’re just saying the differences between an American car and a Japanese one.

So, yeah, it's an American version of something good, basically

I never understood why you turn off T/C in these but my Crossfire was as easy as one button.

It has a button, but it only turns it 70% off.
